About the event

Hello and welcome to Trails & Fitness Guided Trails. Join us over on Heylo app too and find out about more of our cool events and trail runs!

Time & Location:

Sunday 26th Nov, leaving at 09:02

Meeting at London, Waterloo Station, at 08:50am. That way if anyone wants a cheeky coffee/tea, loo before we go, and snacks for the run we have the time. If we have enough people we can buy train tickets in groups of 3 and save 1/3 of the price.

MEETING AND TRAVEL:

We will meet at Waterloo Train Station by the ticket machines. Please buy your ticket before meeting up. We will get the 09:02 train which arrives in Box Hill & West Humble at 09:51. A super off-peak day return costs £11. As usual, you will need to come ready to run. I’m not sure about toilets on board the train, so best go at the station before we set off.

THE RUN:

This trail traverses a series of hills in a clockwise loop north and east of Box Hill & Westhumble station: Norbury Park, Mickleham Downs, Headley Heath and finally Box Hill itself. There are many fine viewpoints and in several places you can see your earlier route from a new perspective. The area is deservedly popular and the famous sites are likely to be crowded on fine weekends, but there are quieter places in between.

WARNING:

There are plenty of tripping hazards to navigate and also a few busy roads to cross on this route. Expect tree routes, wobbly styles, nettles and brambles. You are responsible for your own actions on the day and by signing up have agreed to accept all the risks!

Please download the route if you can and have it with you. It's really helpful if a few people are willing and able to do a bit of navigating. Main thing is we wait for each other and no one is left on their own. Please look out for each other.

In terms of clothing, remember we will be running at a social pace and will need to stop and navigate - the body will generate less heat than on a fast run so you may get chilly. I recommend you bring a waterproof and maybe something dry to change into afterwards so you don’t get cold. This may of course change so please check the weather before you leave home. You might want to carry some food and water with you.

REFRESHMENTS:

I will have a variety of SiS products so please let me know if you want/need something in particular.

If you are interested in food/drinks at the end please let me know and I will book a pub for some tasty grub!

TRAVEL TO & FROM TRAIL:

We now have a WhatsApp group. Please do join this in case there are any last minute issues on the day as it will enable us to communicate as a group. Please also let me know if you are no longer able to make it.
