At Trails & Fitness, our trips are small, intentional, and full of heart. Each destination is chosen for its wild beauty and the way it reconnects you to nature — and Font Romeu, nestled high in the French Pyrenees, is no exception.
Across four days, you’ll explore stunning alpine routes, train at altitude on the track, and learn how to adapt your running, recovery, and fueling for performance above 1,800m. Expect practical workshops, guided trail sessions, and easy downtime to enjoy mountain life — all led by a Coach Mary and Leader Michelle.
This isn’t just about running. It’s about building confidence in the mountains, learning how your body responds to altitude, and discovering how adventure can elevate your mindset — on and off the trails.

Our Story…
People always ask how Michelle and I met, expecting some wholesome, slow-motion moment on a mountaintop. The truth? It was during my first ever 50-mile race — the same race Michelle was casually cruising as part of her attempt to complete all four of the organiser’s 50-milers that year. (Because of course she was.)
I, on the other hand, was deep in my “I REALLY want top 5” era on my first attempt at a 50 mile race. Heart rate was probably through the roof, legs needing to move fast, soul leaving body… you know, the usual.
We ended up running a section together and she started chatting. Full sentences. Actual conversation. Meanwhile, in my head I was thinking: How the hell does she have the energy to talk?! I’m basically trying my hardest here.
Apparently that didn’t show on the outside.
According to Michelle, her first impression of me was:
“Wow. What a stuck-up bitch.”
In reality, it was just my resting/game face… which, to be fair, does look suspiciously like I’m plotting someone’s downfall.
Anyway — Michelle floated into 2nd place like an absolute machine, and I rolled in 5th, extremely proud but also convinced my legs would never make around the 100 miler I had booked 12 weeks later. We met properly at the finish line, finally chatted when I could breathe like an actual human, and instantly realised how hilarious our first impressions were.
We ended up laughing about it so much that we basically became inseparable from that moment on.
Since then, Michelle has:
Supported me through my first 100-miler
Joined every Trails & Fitness trip
Survived my absolutely unhinged idea of “recces”
(like casually running 100km over the Alps… for fun)
Now she’s part of the team — the calm, steady mountain goat to my chaotic “let’s try something ridiculous and see what happens” energy. And honestly? I wouldn’t want it any other way.
What are they saying…?

“This trip was honestly life-changing. I signed up thinking it would just be a hiking holiday, but it turned into so much more. Every day was a mix of challenge, laughter, and jaw-dropping scenery — I left feeling stronger, braver, and with a whole new crew of friends. If you’re even half-thinking about it… do it!”
Charlie
"I’ve never done anything like this before, but Trails & Fitness made the whole experience feel completely doable — and epic. The mountains, the type-2 fun followed by big belly laughs around dinner — it was the adventure I didn’t know I needed. I’m already planning my next one, thanks Mary."
Hana
"From start to finish, everything was seamless. The itinerary was the perfect mix of challenge and chill — one day you’re pushing yourself up a mountain, the next you’re sharing stories under the stars. I came back fitter, inspired, and with memories I’ll be cherish forever. Nepal you have my heart, Mary - I’m coming to the next one!"
Michelle
"I thought I was signing up for a trip — turns out I signed up for a community. The crew vibe is unreal. Everyone supports each other on the trails, and you end up laughing through the tough bits. I’ve been on plenty of holidays, but nothing has ever made me feel this alive. Can’t wait for the next adventure!"
